Education

Education
is the keystone in our society. It is how knowledge is passed down from one generation to the next. However, with
rising tuition costs and less money going towards our local schools, that knowledge is not being passed
to others in an achievable way. Tuition costs are rising due to many reasons. One of which is
that colleges have been hiring unnecessary support staff. Studies have shown that admission has
only increased by 30%, but the support staff has increased by 50%. Another reason for high
tuition costs is the cost of materials. This is because expenses for materials needed by college students and
professors have increased. To fix this, the state needs to keep up with its funding for
their University and college system. This is the same for local school
districts.
School district expenses have gone up, but the budget
hasn't been able to keep up. This causes a lack in teachers and higher classroom sizes. This means less
individualized attention and a cut in extracurricular acitivies. Once again, the only way to cope with this
is to have more funding towards the education system. This means placing education as one of the
needs for the budget.
Finally, different education options opens up doors to many
students. Online high school and college courses are a great for students with high academic skills and a
need to budget their time. Public schools are good for students who need to be in a classroom for one on
one time with teachers. Utilizing these resources will be able to meet our students needs.
Personally, I know what benefits Wisconsin can get from a
brighter education system. I am a senior in a virtual high school. This has allowed me to spend time to
campaign and work more. I can also create my own schedule. Having experience in the different areas
of education that Wisconsin has to offer will allow me to mold a brighter education system for
Wisconsin.
