Environment

We live on a wonderful planet. There is the green
land mixed with the blue waters and the clean sky that you can breathe in. Almost! Our planet is in peril with all
sorts of different pollution types. If we continue this pollution, we may have undesirable consequences. Species
dying out, global warming, and even the disgusting look of garbage filling a landfill. As governor, I want to rid
us of our dependence on oil. Finding new ways to power vehicles, such as switchblade ethanol or using
cellulose to create cellulose ethanol, would also ensure cleaner air. I propose to harness renewable energy in many
different ways. These ways include building a wind farm off of the shores of Lake Michigan, using hydroelectricity
from the Mississippi River, and if possible, even building a nuclear power plant in northern Wisconsin. This would
also create hundreds of jobs. However, we can encourage the public to be wise about electricity as well. You can
unplug appliances when you don't use them, buy efficient fluorescent light bulbs and even use appliances with an
energy star rating. To combat landfills, we can open up plants where garbage is separated for recycling. Both these
small and large steps will create more jobs, and most importantly, ensure that we have a planet we can all share in
the future.
